TEAMWORK AMONG THE POOR

“We want to help too!”

When Christmastime was approaching, the parents of many of the poor children at BLC approached our administrator, Dr. Ayoc, and said, “We want to be in the kids' program as well!” Since the all-you-can-eat dinner for the kids was to cost $2 per person, the school covered the cost of the kids, while their parents scrounged and save until they had enough to join their kids. This is the very first time that the kids had two celebrations: on off-campus one and also their annual Christmas presentation at BLC. Even the restaurant people were blessed!

LONGING TO SERVE

“I want to be first!”

While traversing the USA, we are speaking at nearly 100 different churches, schools, civic clubs and Bible studies. Often we share the need for 88 new sponsors for the poor Filipino children who are waiting for sponsors so that they can attend school. At one church, a man approached us before the service started, with a completed sponsorship form and also his first payment of $20. “I want to be the first one to sponsor from this church!” So when I came to the place in the program when I mentioned the sponsorship program, Our dear friend stood up and waved his twenty-dollar bill in the air announcing, “Me first! I want to sponsor a child!” Praise God for willing souls!

TALLAHASSEE MARATHON

“Run for a cause!”

To keep from gaining too much weight on our 7-month trip to the USA, I decided to run each day. But when I checked the internet for races, I found that, at the very time we will be in Florida, the Tallahassee Marathon will be offered! So I signed up. Then a friend had a great idea: Why not run for a cause?

The timing could not be better. The matching gift challenge (see below) will expire in February, so any funds that come in February (or before) that are earmarked for either “matching funds” or “marathon challenge” will be doubled by a friend of ours.

Here is how it works: I (Paul) will run the 26.2 miles on February 4, 2007. Anyone who sponsors me for any amount (per mile) will send a check to Christian Aid Mission, and their gift will be matched, dollar-for-dollar. So if someone pledges $1 per mile, they would send a check for $26.20. Yet BLC will receive twice that much, or $52.40! Likewise, if you pledge $10 per mile, you will send a check for $262. Yet BLC will receive twice that much, or $524! Undesignated funds will not be matched. Running for a cause!

MATCHING GIFT:

Last year some sponsors of poor children in our school missed payments. To offset the deficit, a senior citizen is matching any gifts designated “MATCHING GIFT”, up to $3,000. Thus far, $640 has been given for this matching gift, totaling twice that: $1,280. Praise God!

AT CHRISTMASTIME, EACH OF THE SPONSORED CHILDREN AT BLC RECEIVE A GIFT. SOME SPONSORS SEND A LITTLE “EXTRA” AT CHRISTMAS FOR THEIR SPONSORED CHILDREN. SOME SPONSORS DO NOT. WE POOL ALL THE FUNDS SO ALL RECEIVE EVENLY. Small girl with wrapped package

BLC ENERGY FUND:

MIGHT YOU BE WILLING TO ASSIST WITH THESE NEEDS ON A MONTHLY BASIS?
