A BRUSH WITH DEATH

“Run Paul, Run!”

My daily training for the February marathon had taken me over a dozen miles a day. Thus I was shocked when, after preaching just north of New York City, I suddenly couldn't breathe. Elvie pulled the car to the side of the thruway until the ambulance took me to the hospital. After I was stabilized, my question for the doctor was, “can I still run in the marathon?”

His words sounded like music to my ears. “Paul, this illness was extreme. You could have died. But it was also so unique that you'll likely never have it again in your life. The best way to regain your strength is to continue your training for the race, and do your best! Yay! A special thanks also to those of you who are sponsoring me in this race, for the double cause of supporting BLC and also finding a cure for lukemia!

FAITHFUL IN TRIALS & TRIUMPHS

“Jesus, we love serving you!”

Little 7-yr old Gen's dad Francisco gets up bright and early each morning to start up the jeepney he has rented so that he can pick up passengers to take them to work. Meanwhile Gen's mom Devi, who is 16 years younger than Gen's dad, struggles to keep their tiny humble abode as much as possible like a home. While Francisco is navigating 12 hours in the perillous Filipino traffic for three dollars a day, Devi takes pride in sweeping the floor, scrubbing and sewing her precious Gen & Madel's clothes by hand.

Her expertise is noticed by neighbors, who also take their torn clothes over to her place to chat while she mends them. Of course nobody could leave without a little “merienda” snack in their tummy, especially made by Devi's skllful hands.

Finally Gen's full day in first grade at BLC is over and Papa Francisco leads the prayer at dinner, “Dear Jesus, In spite of difficulties, trials, and problems in life, we still faithfully and happily serve you!” The family is active in attending BLC's Bible study, prayer meeting, and Sunday worship. Lord, please bless the wonderful sponsors of Gen and Madel!

WISDOM FOR AN ORPHAN

“Save souls!”

Dear Frederick, Where do you live? -Rev. Paul Barner,
President, Barner Learning Center, Inc.

DEAR REV., I live in GHANA WEST AFRICA
FREDERICK THANK YOU

Fredo, Ghana is quite a distance from the Philippines. Are you planning on doing missions work? Will you be self-supported? Are you a born-again believer in Jesus Christ? -Paul Barner

DEAR REV., Thank you for your mail. I AM BORN AGAIN. Fisrt of all i am orphans if you can get some one or organization that will support me finanlialy i will be glad? I am ready to do the work of God. Please what is the name of your ministry? Thank you God bless you

Dear Fredo, How exciting that you are willing to follow the Lord's guidance in wherever He may lead you! Trust God continually, and He will direct your paths. While we have no means of providing support for those who would like to come from abroad to join us, I am sure, as President of BLC, that if God wants you here, he will provide a way for you to get here. My suggestion, Fredo, is that you continue to serve Him where you are, and lead as many people that you can to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. As God sees that you are serous about the most important thing in life...WHICH IS SAVING SOULS, then He will send you to the uttermost parts of the earth with that message.

Keep on, Fredo! In Jesus, Pastor Paul Barner
