THE LEGACY GROWS AND GROWS “A man reaps what he sows” –Galatians 6:7 Sammy’s wife died three years ago, of kidney failure, leaving him as a single dad with two girls and a boy. In her dying breaths Sammy’s wife told him, “Enroll our kids at BLC!” Due to the deceased wife’s extensive medical bills, Sammy could not fulfill the last wishes of his wife. They’d sold their house and business and were living in poverty, penniless. Sammy couldn’t pay for his kids’ schooling. Then a single parent in New Jersey (USA) heard of Sammy’s plight and agreed to sponsor all three of Sammy’s kids! Sammy is now BLC’s PTA president and is all smiles as his oldest daughter graduated from BLC this month. “See” he chimed, “I have given all I have to God, and He has blessed me onehundredfold!”

“BUS DRIVER PREACHER“I was practicing at home and I lost track of the time, so I had to run the ¼ mile to the church!” Boyet, one of BLC’s 4 bus drivers, agreed to lead prayer meeting on Wednesday night. Yet he was so nervous about speaking for the first time before the congregation that he practiced over and over at home what he would say…and he was only to lead the prayer time and singing! Another parent in the school gave the Bible message. “I used too be a drunkard, a gambler and a downright lazy man. But Jesus changed all that. Now look at me! Because my two boys are learning about Jesus here at BLC, my whole family is now living in God’s favor.” Boyet and our three other BLC bus drivers are excited that 3 international donors have supplied funds for three new vehicles to be added to the force this new school year!

GROWING“Left! Left! Left-right-left!” “Now I know and I’ve been told (echo) The Bible’s worth its weight in gold!” I led the 48 BLC graduates in a military cheer during our baccalaureate service. Challenging them from 2 Timothy 2:15, I reminded them that the Bible is our sourcebook, through the words of which all other studies find their meaning and reference. Pride brimmed from the eyes of our students as they received awards for their successful competitions in spelling, athletics and speech. One that surprised me was when our BLC students beat-out the competition in the math/science “DAMATH” competition. They won against champions from some of Davao’s best “math-science” schools! “It just proves true the verse which says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…and He will make your paths straight!” Our weapon is the Bible…let’s know it and use it! |
