CHRISTMAS
IN FEBRUARY!
“Happy Hearts’ Day!”
Packages often take 3-6 months to cross the ocean. So when the sponsors
of BLC kids send Christmas gifts, they often end up as Valentine’s
Day Presents!
This is kind of nice, since the busy-ness of the holidays make gift-giving
quite a scattered event. This year, a church in New York sent an essential
commodity that every poor child is lacking: briefs and/or panties!
When kids try on their uniforms each June, they are often embarrassed
when they remove their rags, as they end up naked!
3 large boxes arrived the 1st week of February, filled with over 300
pair of underwear, plus over 300 pair of socks, and the same number
of toothbrushes. We provided the toothpaste (they come in individual
“sample size” sachets in the Philippines).
During the ceremony, we also gave the kids a chance to thank their
teachers for their kindness during the school year. Plus each family
received a Bible, for the whole family to use.
Since the school is presently in debt, we couldn’t afford a teacher’s
retreat this year. So this kindness from the children was greatly
appreciated!
How appropriate, that Christ’s birth is celebrated on the “Holiday
of Love!”

EVERY DAY AT BARNER LEARNING CENTER, WE SUPPLY TRANSPORTATION

& GENEROUSLY GIVEN BY FAITHFUL FRIENDS.
A CHURCH IN PENSYLVANIA, USA SENDS $100 EACH MONTH TO ASSIST
WITH THE FUEL FOR THESE VEHICLES. HOWEVER, WE PAY $750 EACH
MONTH FOR GAS.
WITH THE RECENT FUEL INCREASE, OUR ENERGY BILL FOR THE BUILDINGS
ON CAMPUS HAS TRIPLED TO $800 PER MONTH.
MIGHT YOU BE WILLING TO ASSIST WITH THESE NEEDS ON A MONTHLY

A SPONSOR FROM HEAVEN!
“Pastor Paul, our PEPPER came at just the right time!”
Our last prayer letter mentioned that we were short over fifty sponsors
during this school year. Therefore Elvie and I used our family’s food
and living expenses so these children would not have to be turned
out onto the streets. Last week I received an amazing email from a
friend.
This couple had sent their annual check to a dear elderly missionary
friend of theirs. Problem was, their friend had died, and the letter
(with check enclosed) was returned. It arrived the same day as our
prayer letter.
“Lord,” they said, “we’ll use this money to sponsor a child at BLC!”
So, in essence, not only is this couple sponsoring the child, but
also the glorified missionary!

EXCHANGE AN EARTH-HOUSE FOR A HEAVEN-HOUSE!
“Pastor Paul, please pray that this house gets sold!”
A very dear friend has blessed BLC in many ways. She sponsors two
BLC students, and not only sent us a nice used encyclopedia set, but
also the money for postage to get it here!
Recently she heard that we have a huge bill of $10,000 to pay our
teachers for their separation pay. This is due to the correction of
a glitch in their contract that allowed a full month’s termination
pay for every year of employment with BLC. The Department of Labor
requires only half that much.
“As soon as I sell this house,” our friend promised, “I’ll send you
half of your bill!” So we prayed. BOY did we pray! And when God answered
and the house was sold, she was true to her word: $5,500! Praise God!
He always provides for His work!
