Pastor Paul challenges 200 BLC scouts to "Go, look and tell."

SCOUTS FOR GOD

“Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” –Joshua 2:1

Scouts have been used in all wars to find out where the enemy is and develop strategy, bringing the generals information. Likewise, I challenged the new BLC scouts this Friday to be spiritual scouts. They are to seek out Jesus and, once they have found Him, come back to share the Good News with others.
During the ceremony, previously blindfolded scouts came into the light of candles with eyes uncovered, symbolizing their introduction to the bright new world of scouting. Likewise, believers have blindfolds of ignorance from sin removed from their eyes when they pray, asking Jesus to remove their sins through His precious death on the cross. “The light shown in the darkness” Jn1

GOD IS THE HIGHEST
“Sir, does a scout shake with his left hand to symbolize that he should hold a weapon in his right?” No, I was assured, for with the other hand the scout is busy fulfilling the 12 points- being trustworthy, loyal, helpful friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful thrifty brave clean & reverent. In his 3-fingered salute salute, the highest represents duty to God, 2nd highest to represent duty to country, & 3rd highest, duty to self. Our BLC students, coming from dusty squatter areas, are learning, in their bright new uniforms, to be good, responsible citizens, loving others.

BORN WITH A MISSION

“Girls...you are special. You were born a girl!” The 5 yr-old Twinklers skipped up to the mirror one by one, exclaiming, “I am a Tweenk-ler!” Star scouts placed yellow star-shaped crowns on their heads as I challenged them with how Rahab had protected her family. “You are unique. You are girls. If you were born a girl, you will be a girl all your life. Likewise, if you are born again as a Christian, you will be one all your life. The new Girl Scouts responded gleefully, “We are Girl Scouts of the Fee-lee-peens! Faithful to country, loyal to all! Mabu-mabu-mabuhay” (victory). “I’ll be joyful in my Savior”- Hab 3
