"...IF HE LAYS THE FOUNDATION AND IS NOT ABLE TO FINISH IT, EVERYONEWHO SEES IT WILL RIDICULE HIM."-LUKE 14:29ORPHANS IN THEIR DISTRESS "Pastor,
can you please take my son and daughter? I can't feed them anymore, and my
husband abandoned me for another woman." The young
mother stood in rags & tousled hair, with her 2 & 3 yr. old kids
behind her stooping like shadows. What to do? What would YOU do? Running a
school for 150+ kids takes most of our time, and the rest of our energies
are used in running the church which we began. Is God telling us to open
an orphanage too? The grandma
cannot handle them anymore, and will be throwing them out on the street by
the end of the month. The mother wants to work, but must watch the kids. Please pray
for direction whether God wants us to open an orphanage. It would cost
$7,600 to start,: $600-permit/$5,000-building/$1,000 1-yr
staffing/$1,000-beds, furnishings for 20 orphans. For food,
clothes, and school, we'd enroll them as BLC sponsored pupils. Yet we will
NOT overextend ourselves financially. If the funds don't come for that
purpose, then we'll take it as a sign that God doesn't want us to do it.

in their distress..."-JS 1:27 |

DO YOU HAVE A NEW YEAR'S
RESOLUTION PROJECT? HERE ARE A FEW NEEDS THAT WE HAVE AT BLC:
MUD AND FLOOD CAN'T KEEP ME FROM CHURCH!
"Pastor, I left my pregnant wife and baby in Nabuntaran. I hope that
is okay? There was so much rain in our hometown over the holidays that on
our way back to Davao there was a landslide, and the road was buried in
mud. I hiked down the road to the next town when the jeepney could go no
further. Then I took a bus the rest of the way. Halfway through the 2nd
journey, a flood 3 feet deep made transportation by anything but a banka
(boat) or large bus impossible. Praise God, I was in a bus. |

A
CHRISTMAS VALENTINE
"Pastor
Paul, when do we get our Christmas presents? Next year?" I'd promised
the kids in the BLC sponsorship program that, once the money comes in for
holiday gifts from their sponsors, that we'd get gifts for all the kids. Challenge
is that sponsors give at Christmastime, and then it still takes a few
months for the funds to clear. We are so pleased with those who sponsor
kids sacrificially, at $20 a month, all year long. And even though it is
not required, some send an extra little something for Christmas. To
avoid jealousy, we don't give any gifts until all the others have arrived.
The special day will be Valentine's Day. In a special little gathering,
the children will receive their gifts, and send Thank you Valentines to those who
are sponsoring them. Christmas all year long! J |
